Man and Woman Scholars

Saturday, May 21st, 2005

Saw the recent outbreak of comments of ‘A’ Star people arguing over differences between male scholars and female scholars. It started outrageously over the men giving the director a lot of problems by breaking bonds, whining….etc…while the women are very good by not breaking bonds, no complains and get on with what they are supposed to do. These also started people comparing women grads vs men grads…Was quite startled when one ‘A’ star lady commented on guys whining about the things they do in NS and how they weren’t like that before they go into NS. Think NS is a good thing for the guys to understand that the world is not perfect and they always have to work round difficult situations. Guess the guys’ way of sharing about NS got a bit misunderstood by our female counterparts..that’s why it’s creating a big "who-ha"…Anyway, aftermath of all these articles, is that, end of the day, we still have imperfections as humans and all these make us unique. If not, it will become a robot world already…so let’s stop complaining and enjoy the fun we have arguing over silly issues. I will always keep in mind that, so that I can take more things in my stride.

Reflections on Mr Wee

Wednesday, May 4th, 2005

Went to Mr Wee’s wake today. Was surprised to see the funeral set-up to be so grand. However, it was fitting for such a guy who was the people’s president, the evergreen smiley who played dipolmat in so many countries…I respect him for his humbleness, treating everyone equal as him, ability to handle difficult situations like during tension with Indonesia, and during the split of Malaysia and Singapore with so much ease. He was always happy-go-lucky and take it easy kind of guy, no matter when he was Mr Wee, Dipolmat Wee ,President Wee or  even his late years as Dr Wee. A true symbol of bevelonence, compassion and hope for humankinds to look up to….Goodbye, Mr Wee…
