Looking back 2005

Sunday, December 25th, 2005

This year had been quite evenful. I had my first year in office as a senior mgmt post and the road had been bumpy. I never really liked some of the decisions I had to make to ensure the system is fair.At least I got to know my boss who taught me about reasoning things out.Took up part-time studies and also had quite a tough time trying to pass. However, I got to know a bunch of wonderful classmates. Ran my first full marathon and ended up getting  disqualified as there was one check-pt which the chip did register. I did get to know someone there and hope to see her again next year. Experienced salsa and fencing this year. Still not attached, but have a batch of wonderful lady friends. Always wondered why my OI mate and my AAA consultant still have irresistable charm after all these years but well, some ppl just have it, I guess. I got closer to a friend who is still overseas now but I think  have to let nature take its course. My financal situation is finally looking brighter after all those dark years where I had to turn down gatherings due to inability to spend. So in a nutshell,I guess this year had been good and hope the next year would be as good if not better. Happy new year, everyone!!!!

Marathon Reflections

Tuesday, December 6th, 2005

Finally, have some time and energy to write something on last sun’s marathon. Looking back when I first took part, the numbers taking part increased tremedously this year through stand chart. Imagine the total figures of runners in 2003 is just equal to this year full marathon’s runners figure. I saw the wide variety of people who took part, ranging from the kid who looks 15years to the old man who is around 80+. The particular scene that touched me was when an old man was edging the other old man on even though he doesn’t know him at all. It reminded me of a show I saw duirng my teenage days," Yan can cook". His favourite catchphrase was ,"If Yan can cook, so can you".  I applaud my fellow friends who took part and completed in whatever categories of races ( remember it’s not how the distance you picked to run, it’s how tough it’s on you). You have just exhibited the "Yan can cook" spirit. It shows a lot of character and bit just to finish it, like the tough roads you all sometimes take in life. Congrats on gaining a valuable lesson and hope you all can take away more the next time you all run again in a marathon.

For those who haven’t tried it yet,  I do urge you all to take up the challenge at least once in life to experience what the rest of us did so many times through training for the event to the actual day..the nudging thought of giving up and overcoming the barrier to reach the goal..Have a jolly good year end celebrations and see ya around. :PPPPPPP
